Sophie leaned back in her chair as the police proceeded to waste more time. She had never liked cops, and this was part of the reason why. They cared more about following procedure than actually helping the situation.
As the screen replayed the scene that had taken place, Sophie felt her muscles tensing. Of course it had been him. And now she couldn’t kill him without being the first suspect in the case. “I’m not sure we need the police from here,” she leaned in to whisper to Mack.

Mack knew that Sophie was annoyed with the police because of what they had to do and honestly so was she. But she compiled with them and gave them what she remembered. As she watched the scene unfold before her eyes, she heard Sophie whisper to her. She glanced at her and she bit her lip. "So how do we get away from them?" Mack asked her quietly.

Sophie nodded at Mackenzie’s response, pausing a moment to decide whether or not the police could be useful later before waving them off completely. In the worst case scenario she’d be able to get them back. “Um… Officer Bailey?” she asked hesitantly, “I really hate to have wasted your time, I know your work is very important, but I think this was a misunderstanding. You see, that’s my cousin. He likes playing pranks like this, I just never imagined he’d go so far. I think we can handle the situation from here, though.”

Mack heard Sophie and she glanced at the officer hoping he would believe it.
The officer looked over at Sophie. "Well make sure you tell your cousin that these types of things are what get people locked up in jail," He said to her.

Sophia pursed her lips and nodded. “Believe me, I will,” she replied. “Thank you guys so much for coming down here! I’m sorry it turned out to be a waste of time.” She made that sound as believable as she could. She may not like cops, but she’d prefer it if they liked her. If she ever came across them again it would probably be because she was in trouble. As low as those odds may be, she’d take any advantage she could get.
She stood up and grabbed her purse. “I’m so sorry Mack, he shouldn’t have done that he’s an idiot.” she said, still playing her role for the cops. “We should probably go get Lizzie now.”

Mack looked at Sophie and she nodded her head. "Yeah we should go," Mack said softly standing up and grabbing her bag. "Thank you Officer for coming down here and we're sorry about wasting your time."
"It's no problem girls," He said to them with a gentle smile.

Once they were out of the room Sophie pulled out her phone to text Jason with an update. He hadn’t responded to her initial message, which worried her a bit but she was far more concerned for Lizzie’s safety. “Alright” she said in a hushed voice as she headed towards the car, “I’m going to drop by your mom’s place to see what she knows about this then I’ll find him.”

Mack followed Sophie and she heard what she said. "Please don't do anything to get arrested..." Mack whispered. "Do you want me to come with you?" Mack knew that she would be of no help but she was worried for Sophie.

Sophie sighed. “I won’t. It’s not like I could do anything to him, the police would trace it back to me after this.” she replied. “It might be better if you head home, they might want to hurt you. But I also don’t really want you to leave my sight.”

Mack heard her and she knew Sophie was right. If he were to turn up dead, Sophie or Mack would be the first suspects on the list. Mack heard what she said and she bit her lip. ”I could stay in the car?” she offered. If there was a chance that Lizzie was at her moms, she wanted to go so she could hold her daughter. She had to be terrified by now and hungry. She only knew that because her boobs were hurting which meant it was time to feed her

Sophie nodded. “You know, he might not be there. She might not even know about this. I don’t think she’d approve if she did.” she replied, opening the passenger door of the car for Mackenzie.

”You don’t know her Soph… she has to know about this,” Mack said. ”I didn’t tell you but my mom tried to look at her when you were in London. I was at target and she tried to move the cover away from her. As I was leaving, I saw her and her boyfriend staring at me.”

Sophie sighed. “I don’t doubt she’d want to. I just assume she’d be too afraid. I shot him last time we met. She shouldn’t want me attention, and I doubt she wants police attention.” she replied. “Besides, she’s raised a child before. She knows it takes money and that children can be very loud. Kidnapping a baby and not getting caught is difficult. From what I can tell he’s stupider than her and wouldn’t care about those little details.”

”I don’t know Soph… they just stared at me and he had this look in his eyes…” Mack said softly. ”I just want Lizzie back home. She needs to eat. My boobs hurt which means it’s feeding time.”

“Whatever the case we’ll know soon enough. And we’ll have her back as soon as possible.” she replied. “Until then she’ll be ok. They’re not complete psychopaths, I doubt they’ll hurt her if it won’t have an impact on us.”
