Ever since Christine came to town, Mack had been texting her non stop. They had met up a few times to hang out, with the okay from Sophie. The last thing Mack wanted to do was upset her girlfriend and make things awkward so as long as Sophie said it was okay, she would hang out with her. A few times, Sophie joined them but those times didn't last very long and they often cut the outing short.
However, for the last few days, Mack couldn't get in touch with Christine. Her phone went straight to voicemail and Delcan and Travis hadn't heard from her in a while. Mackenzie was entering the house with an arm full of groceries as she tried Christine's phone again. "Hey it's me again. If you get this please call me. I'm really worried about you. This isn't like to Tini. So please call me," Mack said before hanging up the phone.
Mackenzie went up to her and Sophie's room and she opened the door. "Hey... so I haven't heard from Christine in a few days and no one has heard from her," Mack said dropping her bag on the floor near the foot of the bed.

Sophie was sprawled across her bed working on homework when Mackenzie came in. She glanced up at the sound of the door opening. She heard what she said and frowned. “I’m guessing that’s unusual for her?” Sophie asked. “No chance she’s just self-isolating?”

Mackenzie heard what Sophie asked. "She always answers her phone for me when I call," Mack said to her. "Typically she screens the calls but if it's my number, she'll answer. We were supposed to meet up for coffee and she never showed. We had this planned a few days ago and then things just went silent. I figured maybe she lost her phone but when she didn't show up for coffee, I just know something bad has happened."

Sophie chewed at the inside of her cheek, not knowing exactly what to say. If Christine was just ghosting Mackenzie as a way to neg her or something like that she’d have to actually directly fight her which didn’t seem idea. She opened her mouth and was about to reply when a phone started ringing. She went to her purse and dug out the buzzing burner phone. She frowned at the unknown number. “One moment, I have to take this,” she said. It wasn’t the first call she’d gotten from an unknown number that day and ignoring people wasn’t always a great idea in her line of business.
Sophie flipped open the phone and held it up to her ear. “You probably have the wrong number,” she sighed into the phone.
“Valerie?” the voice on the other side asked. There was a trace of an accent, but she couldn’t make out what it was. “You messed with the wrong people. Now you’re going to give yourself up and pay.”
Sophie narrowed her eyes. “And why would I do that?” she asked.
“We’ve got your friend. The visiting blonde.”
Sophie froze and looked at Mackenzie. “I’m going to need proof of life.” she said.

The man who was responsible for interacting with the kidnap victim and speaking to Valerie on the phone wasn’t the person in charge. His boss was listening in near by and he waited for a sign of rejection. There wasn’t one, so he tore the tape off of the victim’s mouth and held the phone close to her face. “Speak.” he growled.

Mackenzie saw that Sophie was about to say something when a phone started going off. She heard Sophie and she sighed as she went to go change into something more comfortable. She undid her jeans and slid them off her body and changed quickly into yoga pants. She glanced at Sophie as she looked at her. She heard Sophie's words and she frowned in concern.

Christine was exhausted. She was tied up, beaten and she was starving. She had no idea what was even going on. She listened to the exchange on the phone, weakly trying to get free of the restraints, like she had been doing over the last few days, when she gave out a cry when the tape was ripped off her mouth. She knew skin had come off too with it. "P-Please help me... pl-please..." Christine cried into the phone weakly. She had no energy to form any form of thought from the mental and physical exhaustion.

Once the girl had spoken, the man pulled the phone away and replaced the tape. “Good girl,” he said.

Sophie ran a hand through her hair. That was definitely Christine. And she definitely wasn’t being taken care of and treated nicely. She may not have liked Christine, but the girl didn’t deserve to have anything bad happen to her. “What do you want?” she asked coldly.
“You. Alone and unarmed with $2,000 for our trouble. I’ll text you the address. You have until 10 pm tomorrow to get the money together.”
The line went dead. Sophie cursed and typed in another number. “Jason. Usual meeting spot, 10 minutes. Get that Peyton guy too.” She hung up and looked at Mackenzie. “You're not going to like this,” she said.

Christine kept saying no over and over again moving her head to try and get him to not put the tape on her mouth but eventually he managed to get it on her mouth and she let out an exhausted cry.

Mackenzie noticed the change in her girlfriend's stance. She listened to the conversation and she frowned further. She looked ato Sophie as she spoke to her. "What's going on?" Mack asked her.

Sophie opened her mouth then, not knowing what to say, closed it again. She went to her closet and began digging through it. She needed to get ready for a confrontation. “Christine is… She’s in trouble. They’re trying to get to me through her. Don’t worry, I’m going to get her out, though.” She found her gun and the holster that would go around her waist to hide it under her jacket and set it aside, then looked through her outfits. She needed to choose the right role to play, but she hadn’t planned out the confrontation yet so she didn’t know what that was. Eventually she grabbed her leather jacket, a pair of shorts, and a grey t-shirt.

Mackenzie watched Sophie and then she heard what she said. Her heart stopped. Tini was in trouble. Someone had her. Someone had her best friend. "What?" Mack whispered as she watched her girlfriend dig through her stuff. "I'm coming with you."

Mackenzie looked at her girlfriend and raised an eyebrow. "Yes I am," Mackenzie said to her. "She's my best friend and she's in trouble. I'm coming with you and I'm not asking you. I'm telling you." As she said this, she stripped off her shirt and began looking for a different shirt to wear. Some of her stuff was starting not to fit her as she started to get a small baby bump that was visible.

Sophie frowned, replacing her shirt with the new one then working on fastening the holster. "This isn't the sort of thing you get to tell me. Mackenzie, you're pregnant," she said. "Besides, it's better if the guys I'm working with don't know you exist."

Mackenzie heard Sophie. ”Shes my best friend Soph. I’ll wait in the car. I won’t go in. I’ll do whatever you ask of me. Just please… let me come with you…” she pleaded, feeling her eyes fill with tears.

Mackenzie heard what she said and she quickly threw on a shirt and hoodie before sliding her feet into slip on shoes. She threw her hair up in a pony tail. She grabbed a blanket, clothes and a sweatshirt and threw them into a duffel bag in case Christine needed something. ”Ready.”
