Mackenzie heard Sophie and she smiled at her. "Well I definitely would appreciate it," Mack said softly as she kissed her cheek lightly. Mack heard what she said in response to her and she gnawed at her lower lip. She glanced up as Jesse and the new guy came into the kitchen area. She wasn't sure how she felt about the newcomer coming into their lives but she really didn't have a choice.
Jesse heard his sister. "I'm famished. I could totally go for something to eat," Jesse said to her. He glanced at Archie before setting the suitcase down. "What about you baby?" Jesse wasn't hiding the relationship because now he didn't have to. He could be as open as he wanted to be.
"Sure I could eat," Archie said. "But I do want a shower after the flight. So..." Archie glanced at Jesse who nodded his head towards the hallway. Archie glanced at the girls. "Lovely to meet you two." Archie left the room with Jesse.

Sophie nodded and watched the two walk leave the room before pulling out her phone and dialling the number for pizza. She wasn’t sure what to think based off of that first impression of Archie, but she figured it wasn’t enough to fully judge him on anyway.

A few hours later, Mack and Sophie went their separate ways to bed. Mackenzie did her normal night time routine. She showered, did her facial care routine and then got dressed and went under her sheets and turned out her lights. Mackenzie scrolled social media for a little bit before finally setting her phone down and falling asleep.
Mack wasn't sure how long she was asleep before she woke up with a gasp as she sat up. She was breathing heavily and covered in a cold sweat. She reached over and glanced at her phone and saw it was around 1:30am. She put a hand on her chest, trying to calm her racing heart. She got out of bed and slid her feet into her slippers. She shivered slightly, after all she was wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top since she usually got overheated at night. She made her way towards Sophie's room. She opened the door quietly before glancing down the hall. She slid between the door and the door frame and shut the door behind her. She made her way to the bed and took off her slippers. She slid under the covers and she laid down, curling up to Sophie, her arm going around the girl, her head buried in Sophie's neck.
Jesse was awake reading a book while Archie slept next to him. He heard a noise and frowned when he saw it was in the middle of the night. Jesse got out of bed quietly and went to his door. He opened it and glanced in the hallway. He saw a figure exit a room and go to what he knew was his sisters room. When the person turned their head he saw it was Mackenzie. He hid out of sight and watched as Mack disappeared behind the door. He waited a beat before realizing she wasn't exiting the room. Jesse frowned and waited a few more minutes before making his way to the bedroom. He quietly, as quietly as he could, opened the door and looked inside. He was shocked at what he found; Mackenzie curled up against his sister. He slowly backed his head out the door and shut it before heading back to his room. He shut his door over and he knew that he would be asking her about it in the morning.

After she’d finally headed to her room, Sophie had been very ready to sleep. She had gotten changed into pyjamas and laid down under the blankets and closed her eyes. And then her phone buzzed. And she’d had to pull it out only to find one of her new contacts was ready to talk. Typical they’d chose to do it at an ungodly late hour.
She wasn’t sure how long it took her to wrap that up and go to bed, but it felt like it was only moments between her closing her eyes and feeling someone crawl into bed next to her. She groaned and opened her eyelids slightly to see Mackenzie’s face. “Is everything alright?” she whispered, wrapping an arm around the other girl.

Mackenzie knew that she should have woken up Sophie before she put her arms around the girl but she just needed comfort and that feeling of safe. She heard Sophie groan and she figured that was better than getting a horrible reaction out of her. Mack heard what she whispered and then felt her arms around her. Mack let her leg tangle with Sophie's. "Night mare..." Mack whispered softly. "I just didn't want to be alone."

Mackenzie heard what Sophie said and she curled up against Sophie. She pulled the girl close to her and she let her fingers play with Sophie's hair. She let her lips touch Sophie's cheek softly, before she pressed her cheek to Sophie's. She was hoping that Sophie wouldn't reject her advances of her staying with her, but she honestly had been expecting it.

Mack heard what Sophie asked. She felt Sophie's hand in her hair and she let her eyes close. It felt good to her. She heard what else she said and she swallowed. "Yeah..." Mack whispered. "I was at my moms, well we were at my moms. We were getting my stuff so that way I could move everything out. And she came back somehow. Somehow she found out my feelings for you and she used that against me. Just awful things were done to you while I was helpless in just watching. I-I couldn't do anything to help you... and she laughed and said that I would never be happy. Then she shot you and just as she pulled the trigger on me, I woke up."

Sophie frowned at Mackenzie’s words. The dream sounded a lot like her own fears only reversed. “Bluebell, it’s going to be ok,” she said, continuing to gently stroke Mackenzie’s hair, “Thats not going to happen, I’m right here and it’s going to stay that.”

Mackenzie heard what Sophie said and she felt her hand moving through her hair. "I can't lose you Soph... It would kill me if I did," Mackenzie whispered. She pulled back and looked at her. "You're too important for me to lose." Mackenzie nudged Sophie's nose with her own and she let her lips find Sophie's lightly kissing her.

Sophie felt Mackenzie’s lips against hers and gently kissed the girl back for a few moments before pulling away. “Mackenzie, look at me,” she muttered, gently nudging the girl’s chin so they were at eye level. “She can’t hurt me. She can’t take me away from you. And if she tries to take you away from me I will fight her until she can’t fight anymore. Ok?” Her words were firm and honest. Of course, they weren’t the full truth. There were plenty of things that could come between Sophie and Mackenzie, but most of the true threats probably came from Sophie’s side not Mack’s.

Mackenzie felt Sophie kiss her back before pulling away. Mackenzie gave a small whimper as she heard Sophie’s voice. She felt Sophie nudge her chin so she was eye to eye with Sophie. She heard what was said and she wanted to argue that her mom knew a lot of people who could do unspeakable things when necessary. But she knew that she had to trust Sophie’s words. Mackenzie opened her mouth, the three words she felt on the tip of her tongue but she knew that the moment she said those three words, Sophie would shut down. ”Okay…” Mack whispered as she settled for one word.

Mack looked at Sophie and she closed her eyes as Sophie kissed her. She heard Sophie’s whisper and she nodded her head. ”Get some sleep baby…” Mack whispered with a yawn. Mack settled in and eventually her breathing evened out. The next morning, Mackenzie had her face buried in Sophie’s neck and she was out cold. She had been exhausted lately and this was the best night of sleep she’s gotten in a while.
Jesse work up early to get some work done with his schooling. He was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking his coffee. His mind was still on what he saw last night. If Mack was gay, and she went into his sisters room… we’re they together?
