It's been a few weeks since the night that Sophie's dad surprised them with a visit to the states to see her. Since the night that Mackenzie flipped out on her. She felt drawn to Sophie and her heart wanted her and she physically wanted her and the fact that Sophie was making every excuse in the book aggravated her. It angered her to the point where she completely ghosted Sophie. She didn't answer any calls or texts, she left the hotel and headed back home with her mom. She went to school every so often as to not make anything suspicious.
Well things at home got a lot worse. Her mom was more vocal and was more quick to snap at her and that confused the heck out of her. She didn't understand what was different between now and a few weeks ago. The only thing that changed is that her mom wasn't receiving any money for her "watching the dog." Everything was minimal up until yesterday. She had gotten home from school and her mom was arguing with her current boyfriend who lived with them. That should have been Mack's first clue that something bad was going to happen. But it wasn't.
Mack was in her bedroom changing when she could clearly hear her mom come down the hallway with her boyfriend following her. She backed up towards her bed because she knew what was coming. They were going to tag team her and beat the shit out of her and she wasn't ready for it. As the door swung open, Mack flinched. "Please don't..." She whispered and those were the last words spoken of Mack.
The neighbors had called the cops after hearing screams from a young girl and screaming from two adult individuals. Mack's mother and her boyfriend were arrested for child abuse and disturbing the peace after they found Mack unconscious in her bedroom, her arm broken and her body littered with bruises; some old and some new. The paramedics drove Mack to the hospital and got her into a room to asses the damage. They did some x-rays and she definitely had a slight brain injury which was causing her to be in a coma. Her arm was broken which they set and put in a cast. They documented the bruising on Mack's body on paper and via a camera in case this went to court for whatever reason.
