There were few things Grace loved more than filming days. Especially when she was working with the right group of people. For this particular movie, she was. The director was organized enough that she knew where she had to be at all times, but he let her play with her character so it wasn’t too boring. She hated being told to improv, but having the opportunity as an option if she felt inspired was always nice.
“Steele, to wardrobe!” the hurried voice of the director broke through her thoughts. She nodded and stepped away from the set, headed towards the wardrobe room where she was fitted with a new, white dress for the next scene they were supposed to film with her. Her hair and face were also redone. It was amazing how easily the hair and makeup teams could take something that seemed like such a mess and turn it around so quickly. Sure, it was an organized mess that they’d made, but it still impressed Grace.
Her character started out as a bad guy but she had a long redemption arc where she ended up helping the protagonist from time to time until she eventually fell for him. It was a bit cliche, but it wasn’t like Grace didn’t love a good cliche in the right movie. They were jumping around quite a bit with this director and based on the outfit she assumed the next scene she’d be needed for would be later in the movie. Checking her schedule, she saw that she was right. She also saw that she had a little break between now and then.
Sighing, she went over to the snack table. She knew she shouldn’t eat in the white dress, just in case, but the actor playing the aforementioned protagonist was sitting there. This was the first time they’d actually been on set together, so she hadn’t gotten to know him that well outside a few practice runs. “Charlie, right?” she asked, taking the chair next to him and hoping he wasn’t against strangers starting up conversations. He held himself kindly enough, but it could be hard to tell with actors and the like.
