Sophie stayed with Mackenzie for a while longer until there was a knock at the door. She separated herself from Mack and went to check her lipstick - which was still somehow intact - before opening the door and looking out to see Katherine.
“Fifi, I’m just about ready to come home, if you guys wanted to come with nows your chance.” Cat said. Sophie couldn’t be sure, but she could swear there was a bit of a slur to her words.
“Yeah, uh…” she said. “Can you give us a few minutes, we have to pack up to stay overnight.” She turned to glance back at Mack. “Which means I have to go back to my room. Should we all meet up outside in 15 minutes?” she asked.

Mackenzie felt her pull away and she heard the door. She glanced up as she heard Cats voice. She nodded her head to Sophie before getting out of bed. She made her way to her bag to get some things.

Fifteen minutes later, Sophie was outside the front door with a backpack with a few of her things. Katherine was already there waiting, but Mackenzie wasn’t yet. “So, what’s your hurry? Isn’t this a bit early for you to be leaving a party?” Sophie asked.
Katherine wrinkled her nose. “The boys were getting a bit touchy and I wasn’t in the mood to deal with it tonight,” she replied.
Sophie just nodded then leaned against the wall and let her eyes drift shut. After the encounter with her father she was emotionally exhausted. She opened her eyes when she heard the click of heels approaching. Katherine reached out and tugged at her sleeve, revealing the already purpling bruise. She knew there would be a bloody mark on the back of her shoulder, but she didn’t move so Cat could see that. “Oh Soph,” she muttered. “I hate that you have to put up with him. I know you’re going to say it’s not forever but still.”
Sophie shrugged and pulled her sleeve back up. “Dont worry about it, Kitten.” was all she said.

Mackenzie finished up packing and made her way downstairs. She got there just in time to see Sophie pulling her sleeve back up. She frowned as she appeared next to them. ”Dont worry about what?” Mack asked with a yawn

Upon hearing Mackenzie, Katherine stepped away from Sophie. Soph opened her eyes and glanced at Mack. “About me. About my dad. It doesn’t matter I can take care of myself.” her gaze had returned to Katherine by the end of that. “Come on, let’s get going,” she added, pushing away from the wall.

Mackenzie watched as Katherine stepped away and she felt happy because clearly this girl knew her place now. She heard what Sophie said and then heard her say to go. ”I can’t wait to curl in bed because I’m exhausted…” Mack muttered as they began walking

“Dont worry, it’s not a very long walk,” Sophie replied as they began walking. She followed Katherine although she didn’t have to. She could find her way to Cat’s house with her eyes closed. “I’m not sure I’m ready to sleep yet though. I might stay up and watch a movie.”

Mack shook her head. ”Itll be better than the silence at your fathers house…” Mack muttered as her pinky found Sophie’s. She hooked her pinky around hers.

“Definitely,” Sophie muttered in response. She felt Mackenzie’s hand brush against hers and she grinned.
A few moments later she rushed ahead. “Kitten,” she said, placing her hands on Katherine’s shoulders and turning her. “That way. How drunk are you?” she narrowed her eyes.
Katherine scoffed. “Not drunk enough,” she replied.
Sophie rolled her eyes and fell back into step with Mackenzie, watching Katherine carefully. “It’s the second one on the left,” she told Mack, loud enough for Katherine to hear just in case.
