Katherine rolled her eyes. “Jesse isn’t the supportive type. She may have you, but how much is she giving up to stay with you?” she asked. “I just want Sophie to be happy.”

Katherine sighed as Mackenzie stalked away. She hadn’t meant to do that.


Sophie had changed her dress and fixed her hair, but when she snuck downstairs she found that neither Mackenzie or Katherine were with the group of gathered people. Her gaze naturally traveled in the direction of a familiar laugh. Blake. Her most recent ex. She snuck out before he noticed her and went to find Katherine.

“Where is Mackenzie?” she asked with a soft growl in her voice once she found Katherine. She wasn’t in a good mood and she wanted to know her girlfriend was safe.

“Sophie, are you ok?” she asked, her gaze travelling to the new dress which covered more skin.

Sophie shook her head, not interested in this waste of time. “Where is my… Mackenzie.” she demanded.

“She went back to her room,” Katherine said.

Sophie’s posture relaxed slightly. “Alright,” she muttered, “I’ll catch up with you later.”

“Wait Sophie! We need to talk,” Katherine called after her, but Sophie didn’t turn around.



A few minutes later, Sophie had made it to Mack’s room. She opened the door and slid in. “Hey, it’s me,” she said softly. “Is everything alright?”

“Nothing I couldn’t handle,” Sophie said firmly. She had been expecting the question. She took in Mackenzie’s face and frowned. “What’s going on? What did I miss?” she asked

Sophie frowned and sat down on the bed next to Mackenzie. "That depends. Where is this coming from?" she asked gently.

Sophie sighed. “I… am happy with you.” she said. “But Cat’s definition of happy is different than yours. Don’t listen to what she says.”

"I haven't narrowed it down to one or the other just yet," Sophie admitted. "I don't want to be away from you, though."

Sophie frowned. "Bluebell, no matter what I'm not leaving you. You're, like, my whole world." she said.
