"He won't," Charley replied softly. He didn't take well to sudden changes and this was very sudden and very new. "I need to tell him myself. It'll be better that way."

Marcel heard what Charley said. ”Then hopefully he’ll adjust to the news easily,” Marcel said to her. ”Its going to be okay baby. You know that right? First thing we need to do, after this has sunk in, is get you to see a doctor to figure out how far along you are and get you on prenatal vitamins.”

Charley heard Marcel's words. It was all too real. "Marcel... What if I don't want to do this?" she asked softly. The only time she'd been talked to about her future as a parent was in the ED ward, where they'd made it clear that she could be a danger to a child if she ever got pregnant. Back then she had been so sure that she would never want a kid, and she wasn't sure anything had changed.

Marcel heard her question and his eyes met hers. He was quiet. While he would never hate her for making the decision to terminate a pregnancy, he would be upset because he loved Charley and could see himself starting a family with her. He knew his next words would have to be chosen carefully. ”If this baby is something that you don’t want then I’ll fully support your decision to terminate the pregnancy. I’ll go with you, be your support through it all. Just before you think of your final decision, just make sure it’s the right decision for you. And for us.” Whatever her final decision was, Marcel would support her 100%

There was an ache in Charley's chest at Marcel's words. She knew it wasn't what he would want, but she also knew he'd support her because he cared about her. She stopped her pacing and turned to look at him. "It's not that I don't want a family with you ever, but not right now. It's not the right time for it." she said. "But I'm not sure about anything at the moment."

Marcel heard Charley. ”Take some time to think about it. You have a few weeks, if you’re fairly early along, to make an official decision. Like I said, whatever you want to do, I’ll support you in your decision,” Marcel said to her. ”I always will. Never forget it.”[\b]

Charley nodded slowly. He was right. She had some time. She didn’t have to make any rash decisions. “The doctor said they’d refer me to someone so I can schedule an appointment with them when they do.” she said. She hated hospitals, but not to the point that she’d risk her health or the health of her potential child to avoid them.

Marcel heard what she said. "And whatever you need, I'll be there for you every step of the way," Marcel said. "I don't want you to think that you're in this alone. Because you're not."

“I know,” she replied. She also knew that regardless of his presence she preferred to take on issues by herself. It was how she’d always done things. When she was younger her father and brother were always there for her, but burdening them with her problems had always seemed impossible. Marcel was no different. “My lab teacher is going to be pissed,” she groaned, running a hand through her hair. Unlike most of her classes, her labs required attendance.

Marcel heard what she said about her lab teacher and he frowned. ”He’ll have to understand that you will have doctor appointments. And hopefully you won’t have to go out earlier than necessary. But if so, maybe they can do a video thing for you. That way you can keep up,” Marcel said. ”There are ways to do this.”

“I mean because I ran out of class today with no explanation,” Charley replied. “You’re right, though. It’ll be fine.” She wasn’t quite sure she believed that, but if she said it maybe it would make it true.
