Mack heard her and she looked at her. ”What the fuck do you mean he shot you?” Mack asked. She moved towards Sophie abs she undid the zipper on her girlfriends jacket. She pushed the jacket down her arms and they zeroed in on the bandages.

“Like, with a gun…” she said a bit dumbly as Mackenzie undid her jacket. “I’ll be fine, it didn’t hit anything important. And they got the bullet out pretty easily.”

Mack heard what she said and she took a few steps back. ”So I had to quit my job because you felt it was dangerous and I didn’t even bat an eye. Sure I was pissed but I left my job, getting stabbed because of it. Meanwhile you’re able to risk your life every damn night, not come home and make me panic because I can’t get a hold of you? That’s just some fucked up bullshit,” Mack said leaving the room and going to their bedroom.

“Bluebell,” she groaned, following Mackenzie to the bedroom. “It’s not like that. I was trying to keep you safe in a world you knew nothing about. For Christ’s sake! You thought your boss was a good person! My situation is nothing like yours was.”

Mack heard her and she threw some clothes in a bag. ”Fuck Sophie. I can take care of myself! I was doing fine until you asked me to quit my job!” she snapped zipping up the bag. She threw her laptop and charger in the bag as well before going ti her dresser. She threw on some sweats and a shirt before throwing her hair up in a bun

“No you weren’t!” she countered. “Or at least you wouldn’t have been for long. Even if your boss wasn’t the problem, the people that frequent that sort of strip club are terrible! And if you were caught you’d be in so much legal trouble.” She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. “Bluebell, what are you doing? Why are you packing?”

Mack heard what she said but it was falling on deaf ears. Mack heard her question. ”Im leaving for the night. I need some space,” Mack said grabbing her bag and shouldering it. ”Ill stay at a hotel or something.” Mack left the room and headed towards the front door to get her shoes.

Mack heard what she said. ”To be honest right now I don’t give a fuck. I have a girlfriend who disappears for hours and I don’t even hear from her. Now I have my mother who is out of jail and apparently hired someone to sit outside our apartment and stalk me. I just need to separate myself right now from everything and take a breather,” Mack said as she opened the door

Sophie reached out and grabbed Mackenzie’s arm to stop her from leaving. “Please at least tell me where you’re going. I can send people to make sure you’re safe.”

Mack looked at her. ”I don’t need you to send people to make sure I’m safe,” Mack said to her before taking her arm from Sophie’s grasp. ”Enjoy the food I made.” Mack slammed the door in Sophie’s face and took off down the hallway

As Mackenzie pulled away and slammed the door in Sophie’s face, some thing broke inside her. She numbly felt tears sliding down her face.
Time. She was sure Mackenzie just needed time. But in the meantime, Sophie wasn’t sure she could be alone. So, for the second time that day, she dialled her brother’s number.

Sophie wiped at the tears under her eyes and tried to keep her voice even. “I know, I just…” she shook her head. She didn’t know what she had planned on saying. So she went for the truth. “I need you guys to come home. Everyone’s fine but… Mackenzie got mad and left and I don’t want to-“ her voice shook and she wiped under her eyes again. “I just can’t be alone right now.”
