Mackenzie was nervous. It's been a while since Valentine's Day, the day and Mack and Sophie officially became a couple and Mack couldn't be happier. The small run in with Sophie's father was frightening to say the least but she was presently surprised when that didn't stop Sophie from being affectionate to her. She had been concerned that Sophie would put a pause on their relationship but when she didn't, Mack was happy.
Mack had cornered Jesse and made him tell her when Sophie's birthday was because she wanted to plan a surprise for her. Really she wanted to surprise her with dinner and dessert and she found the perfect ring for Sophie. No it wasn't an engagement ring but it was a promise ring, a promise that Sophie was the only girl for Mack and she was never going to leave her. So, with the date in her head, Mack set off to make her birthday perfect.
Mack got set to baking a cake for dessert. She made a two layer yellow cake with vanilla icing. When it was cooled, she iced the cake and then wrote 'Happy Birthday Baby' on the cake and set it in the pantry covered so she wouldn't see it. On top of the cover, she set the box containing the ring for Sophie.
Then Mack decided to cook chicken with some vegetables and potatoes. It was around 4:30 when Mack decided to start dinner. She knew Sophie would be home around 5:30 which gave her a 15 minute buffer between then dinner would be done, and Sophie to return. Mack put the veggies in the casserole dish along with the semi cooked chicken and placed it in the oven. She set a timer for 45 minutes and then ran to change. She quickly changed into a cute dress (see picture above) and then headed back down to get the table set up. She placed down two dishes, a candle in between the two dishes as well as a bouquet of flowers in a vase.
Mackenzie grabbed her phone and chewed on her nail. She opened up her thread with Sophie. Hey beautiful! I can't wait for you to come home. Jesse mentioned something about him and Archie grabbing dinner and then a movie so we have the house to ourselves. See you soon! Mack sent the text and then paced the apartment nervously. She really wanted this to go smoothly and to not backfire in her face. Jesse had warned her that Sophie didn't take well to others surprising her with stuff, especially for her birthday. But Mack didn't want to do nothing for Sophie's birthday.
