Sophie's breath left her lungs as Mack's lips trailed down her jaw. Her gaze flickered down and Sophie leaned back suddenly, breaking the distance between them."What's this?" she frowned, although she knew exactly what the bruise was as her thumb softly traced over the top of it. She'd already taken note of them on Mackenzie's wrist but now... they served as a reminder to her of what would happen if this carried on for much longer. A few bruises would probably be the least of her problems. With a large enough bribe and a lame excuse, her father could get away with practically anything. She'd learned long ago that the man didn't know what guilt was.

Mack felt the girls breath leave her lungs and then she saw her lean back, separating the distance between them. She heard what she asked and she felt Sophie's thumb trace her bruise and she froze, her lips parted. The reason for the lips parting was partly because she didn't know what to tell her and the other part was because the touch was turning her on. She shifted slightly on Sophie's lap. "I ran into the door frame at my house," Mack said lying but the giveaway of the lie was the gnawing of her lip.

Nausea churned in Sophie's stomach. She wouldn't have believed the excuse even if Mack was a good liar. She wouldn't call the other girl out on it, after all she'd never want anyone getting involved in her business thinking they were helping like that. "I..." Sophie's voice trailed off and she shook her head. She couldn't think clearly. She needed an excuse to put distance between the two of them. "I need to clean that up, if it actually stains the floor Spencer will kill me." she said, motioning to the spilled punch they'd ignored earlier.

Mack heard what the Sophia said and she swallowed her saliva. "If you want I can help and then we could go find somewhere to be alone... one with less things to spill," Mack offered to the girl, her fingers twirling Sophie's hair around it. She couldn't get enough of this girl. She didn't want to leave Sophia because she felt drawn to her like a moth to a flame. It was dangerous territory if her mom ever found out. AFter all this party was a risk of her getting the crap beat out of her but now it was worth it.

Sophie heard Mack's words and her veins turned to ice. She couldn't let even the idea of this go on any longer. This was different than just making out with a friend when she was drunk. She thought she'd been clear but apparently not.
"Bluebell, I'm not..." Her voice trailed off, not because she couldn't find the right words but because she couldn't bring herself to say them. She fidgeted with a small gold cross hanging from a chain around her neck. She wore it as a reminder of who she had to be, not as a symbol of the religion she claimed to believe in. She forced her expression to remain even. If she let any of the regret coursing through her show on her face it might ruin the lie. "This is a one time thing. I'm not gay."

Mack should have known that by the way she took her time in answering that something was going to happen that was going to break her little heart. Mack heard her start to speak and she felt her heart stop. Ice ran through her veins and she felt her heart rate increase in fear of what was going to be said.Mack heard her continue her sentence and she felt like ice water was just dumped on her head.
"O-Oh..." Mack said her voice wavering, tears filling her eyes in both heartbreak and embarrassment. "I-I'm sorry... I'll just go. I have to get home anyway. My mom will kill me if she finds out I"m not home..." Mack whispered as she moved off of Sophie and went to grab her discarded drink. She drank the rest of the coke and glanced at Sophia. "Again sorry for making an advance towards you... but thanks for humoring me."

This was one of the hardest things Sophie had to do in a long time. She wanted to apologize and swear she hadn't meant it. Instead she avoided eye contact. As Mack turned away, guilt covered Sophie's face, but as she saw Mackenzie glance back she wiped it away, replacing it with a tight smile and hoping Mack hadn't noticed. She knew she should have keep silent, but... "Don't," she said, "Never apologize to me for anything. I'm the last person that deserves it."
