Charley shook her head slowly. "No. No thank you, I..." She shook her head again. "I need to do something," she said in a low voice. She didn't know what there was to be done, but she couldn't just sit there. She wasn't angry. At least, not the way she had been a few moments before. What flowed through her now was colder than ice. Jasper had struck a hard blow, but it wasn't like one strike could win a war. Jasper had always been impulsive, but she wasn't. He didn't know what he'd gotten himself into with his foolishness, but she did. He'd come to what was now her territory and stirred up a mess, and he wasn't going to get away unscathed.
"Marcel... I need to tell my mother. About Carter. I-I don't know how. She, uh- I don't have the slightest idea how she'll react." Nor did she know where her mother was, at that particular moment. She hadn't been home when Charley had left, and she hadn't bothered leaving a note on her rush out. Her mother could come home at any minute to find an empty house and that would mean Charley would owe her an explanation anyway.

Marcel watched Charley and he knew she was pissed. Marcel knew that Jasper struck a chord and he did the worst possible thing. He figured that to her, it was one thing to hurt her, but it was another thing to hurt Carter. "Charley... just please, please think before you react and do something. I mean if I have to I'll bail you out of jail but I really don't want to have to do that," Marcel said softly. He would do anything for her. He heard what she said about her mother and he nodded his head. "I can call her. I can say that he found his way to my house and that I was able to get in touch with you about him."
Carter had woken up and he groaned quietly. He was in a severe amount of pain. Everything hurt. His ribs hurt. He felt like he was being crushed. Carter slowly sat up and he swung his legs over the edge of the bed. He made his way towards the door, after standing up. He slowly made his way down the stairs. He could hear his sisters voice along with Marcels. It was coming back to him. Him leaving Josh's house, the walk home, the beating, the walk here. He lent against the wall to the living room. "Charley.." Carter whispered since that's all he was physically capable of doing.

Charley clenched her jaw at Marcel’s comment about bailing her out of jail if she had to. If it came down to that she wasn’t sure he’d be the first person she called. She wasn’t sure who she’d call, but she wouldn’t want to see the look on his face. Last time she’d done something that could have gotten her arrested she’d known exactly who would bail her out. Jasper. Back then her entire life had been centred around him. How fitting it was that the next time she considered any sort of illicit activity it would be because of him. “Why would he do this?” she said, the words barely above a whisper. They weren’t exactly meant for Marcel, she just needed to put a voice to them. “It was never anyone else. Even if he cheated on me none of them got hurt. I never thought this would harm Carter.” Tears threatened to prickle up in her eyes but she held them back. Now wasn’t the time. She couldn’t let go of her anger until Jasper paid for what her done.
She took a breath and released the air, grounding herself in her current situation. “No, I should do it. It would bring up too many questions coming from you. Plus I don’t know how she’ll react so if it’s bad I’m more used to taking the heat of it. I just…” she shook her head and a nervous anxiety began to tug at her again. “I don’t know what to say. I may not have the best relationship with her but with Carter it’s different. She cares about him and if she hears her son got hurt in the wrong way it won’t end well.”
She was going to pull out her phone to begin typing something out when she heard Carter’s whisper and whipped around to look at him. Concern filled her gaze immediately as she took in the sight. It wasn’t exactly worse than she’d expected but there was something about actually seeing it that brought with it a new wave of anger. But for now he was the priority. “Carter,” she said breathlessly, taking a few steps toward him so she could help him walk to the couch, “You should sit. Please. I’m so sorry Carter, this shouldn’t have happened. It has nothing to do with you I never thought that jerk would pull something like this it’s all my fault and if you’re completely pissed at me that’s completely fair.”So much for keeping herself together. The whole barrage of words had fallen out without much control on her part.

Marcel listened to Charley speak and he knew that she was just speaking to herself to kind of make sense of the situation. He knew that she wasn't looking for an answer but he felt inclined to give her one. "I can't explain why people do the things they do. Anger and revenge make people do things that normally they wouldn't do," Marcel said softly. He didn't know what she was thinking and he knew that she wanted to make him pay for what he did. Marcel heard what she said about telling her mother and he nodded his head. He understood wanting to tell her mother on her own. "If you need back up, you know you can call me." At Carter's voice, Marcel turned to look at the doorway.
Carter saw his sister looking at him. He heard her say his name. "I-I'm sorry... I should have called you or someone to pick me up. Or have had Josh drive me..." He managed to get out before his voice died off. Carter let his sister help him to the couch and he groaned in pain as he sat and his body protested. He shook his head. "I'm not mad at you C... if anything you should be mad at me... I walked home in the dark and-" He gave a cough before gasping in pain as his ribs pulled and his chest protested. His lip split back open and started to bleed again.
