Mackenzie heard the doctor as she held Lizzie in her arms. She went to speak but she heard Sophie’s voice. She followed the doctor into the room. ”Sophie baby listen to me…” Mack whispered. ”Youre okay..”

“Bluebell,” she grabbed desperately at her fiancé’s hand. “They’re working with my dad they’re trying to poison me,” she moaned. “It hurts! Get it out of me! Make it stop!” she shrieked and sharply tugged her arm away from the doctor to pull out the iv. Bright red pooled at the spot where it had been but Sophie didn’t care. “We need to go now! We need to go!” she moved to get out of the bed.
“Shit,” the doctor muttered. “A little help in here!” he called. Other people came in the room, bad people Sophie decided instantly, and she batted at them as they tried to restrain her. Then a doctor said something and one of them came at her with a needle and shortly after that the world went dark again.

There was a commotion in the room Jason was sent to when he got to the hospital. He had been on Sophie’s list of contacts in case she got hurt on the job, but this was just as bad. He knew immediately it had to have been her dad. “Delusions?” he asked the doctor. “I should have warned you on the phone, she can’t be on too much morphine. Her mom reacts the same way.” Especially when she was already manic. He’d only seen her really bad a couple of times, but it scared him.
He’d known Sophie was showing signs of bipolar when she was younger, but she was still younger than most people diagnosed with bipolar. He hadn’t thought she’d get too bad this soon. Not that he was certain she was bad at all, it could have just been a reaction to the medication. One of the nurses went to fix Sophie’s iv and Jason’s eyes scanned the room for Mackenzie. “What’s been going on?” he asked gently.

Mackenzie felt her grab at her hand and she watched as she ripped out the IV. It all happened so far and she was moved out of the way in which Lizzie started to cry. Mackenzie went to the corner of the room to try and calm down her daughter. Next thing she knew, she was being placed in a chair and Lizzie was out of her arms. Apparently she had been swaying back and forth from it all and they were concerned about her collapsing.
Mackenzie heard Jason and she glanced up at him. She was glad they called him and not her father. ”I-I don’t really know. She just came home one day with a necklace for Lizzie and myself and a bunch of clothes. She spent almost two thousand dollars on her dads credit card. She bought a dog… went out to a club when I told her she shouldn’t because I just knew something was off…”

Jason breathed a deep sigh and narrowed his eyes. “How long and how bad?” he asked. “Has she done anything that’s obviously dangerous to her safety or yours?”

”Maybe a week?” Mack said to him. ”She had some sort of meeting today and then I got a call that she was here. We haven’t really spoken in a week because she really upset me. So I don’t really know where she goes. She’s barely ever home.”

Jason ran a hand through his hair and sat down in a spare chair. He hated this stuff. He’d seen his mom go through episodes like this and it terrified then. He didn’t like having to see it in Sophie too. She was too young. “She was spending her dad’s money?” he asked. That alone probably counted as suicidal levels of recklessness. “She’s bipolar. Well, mom is bipolar and Soph has shown all the signs but she refuses to cooperate with any doctors so they’ve never been able to diagnose her. I didn’t think she’d have a full manic episode though, she’s only had a couple hypomanic episodes that I know of.”

"Jason I currently have a german shepherd puppy living in my apartment because of this," Mack said. "She wants to keep the damn thing and I can't... we can't afford it. I tried to explain it all to her but she just wasn't listening. She had no regard to anyone but herself and what she wanted.."

Jason pursed his lips. “It could be worse,” he said decidedly. “Once when mom was like this she brought home a child. Hell, once she gave away a child. She never should have given Sophie to her father.” He glanced at Sophie. He had definitely done this. “She’s really good at making ends meet, though. And when she comes to her senses she might change her mind. For now I doubt you could talk her into much of anything. We should probably call in whatever psychiatrist works here for when she wakes up.”

"You can handle her. I just can't talk to her right now..." Mack muttered. "I only came because I wanted to make sure she was at least okay. But I'm still annoyed with her because I've been taking care of this dog that she brought home that I don't even want."

“Well you don’t have to talk to her right now. They sedated her, she’ll be out for a while. Probably a good thing, I’m guessing she hasn’t gotten much sleep lately?” he commented. “You can be annoyed with her behaviour, but this isn’t her. Don’t… change your mind about her because of this.” He’d seen a lot of his mom’s relationships end like this. “Right now she needs help though. And she’s not going to listen to me about it.”

"She sleeps for maybe 4 hours at a time," Mack said to him. Everytime Sophie woke up, she did too and it annoyed her because she grew exhausted. Then having to take care of Lizzie and work. It was tiring. Mack heard what he said. "I still love her to death. I would kill anyone who hurts her. I've tried to talk to her but she won't listen to me either."

Jason shook his head. “She’s not exactly known for listening to people when she’s stable either,” he pointed out. “Last time I tried to get her to see a therapist of some sort she yelled at me then didn’t talk to me for a week. I’m not sure I’d be able to convince her to see someone now but she needs help. Professional help.”

"And you think I will be able to convince her?" Mackenzie asked him. She probably could convince her and she would use Lizzie as part of her persuasion. She just didn't know how to talk to her right now when her anger is so high.

Jason shrugged. “You’ve got a better shot at it than me,” he replied. “She actually cares what you think about her. She’s certainly never extended that courtesy to me.” He shook his head. “If you think she wouldn’t we can just call someone in now. She’ll be upset about it but it will probably work.”

Mackenzie heard what she said and she bit her lip. "I guess I could try before we call someone in. If the talk doesn't go well then I'm sure she'll have to be sedated and then we can call someone in," Mack whispered as she juggled Lizza into one arm so she could take Sophie's hand in hers.
