Mackenzie heard what he said and she bit her lip. Did she know how to fight? Yes but not well. Did she like fighting? No. It brought her back to her days when she lived with her mother. "I do but not very well. Getting abused growing up I had to learn how to use self defense if it came to it. But if I did, it usually ended up with me getting my ass beat by my mother after," Mack said. "Why?"

Jason shrugged. “Just wondering,” he replied. “You are in a relationship with Soph and you did see your friend get kidnapped because of that. Also you let a near stranger into your home.”

Mackenzie heard what he said. "Well if it comes down to it, I know where Soph keeps her gun," Mack said to him before she grabbed her phone to check an incoming text. She then messaged Sophie. Please tell me you're almost home... Mack sent her.

Jason narrowed his eyes. “Yeah, but if someone wanted to hurt you they probably wouldn’t come knocking on the front door. And they wouldn’t give you time to grab a gun. They’d probably have their own.” he shrugged. “You probably don’t actually have anything to worry about. I only know you exist because we met, she keeps a lot of her personal life a secret.”

Sophie glanced at her phone as she got the message from Mack. She was still driving, and she couldn’t get to her phone immediately. Once she safely could, she grabbed it and typed out, on my way, be there in a few minutes.

Mackenzie heard what he said and she hugged Lizzie closer to her body protectively. She averted her eyes from his and she knew he was right. Plus even if it came to that, she didn't know how to shoot a gun. She read Sophie's text and bit her lip. "Are you finished with the coffee?" Mack asked.

Mack took the cup and placed it in the sink just as Lizzie started to whine. ”I have to go and change her. Is it cool if I leave you here?” Mack asked him.

Jason nodded. “I’m good,” he replied, pulling out his phone. It was too early in the day for any work emergencies to come up, but he still liked staying up to date. Between his friends and family he was responsible for managing a lot of chaos.

A few moments later, Sophie opened the front door. She spotted Jason immediately, then looked round for Mack. She frowned when she didn’t see her. “Where is she?” she demanded.
Jason lifted his hands in the air in a show of innocence. “Do you really think I’d hurt her? Why would I do that?” he said. Sophie narrowed her eyes, not believing his act for a second. She wouldn’t be happy until she saw Mack.

Mackenzie heard Jason and she simply nodded her head before going back to her and Sophie’s bedroom. She cooed at Lizzie as she began to change her. She tickled the little girl causing her to giggle which made a smile form on Mackenzie’s face. ”I love you my sweet girl,” Mack whispered as she quickly redressed Lizzie. She picked her up and cradled her. She tossed the diaper in the trash can in the room before heading back down to the kitchen. ”Oh! You’re back!” Mack said with a smile as she reentered the kitchen

Mackenzie heard what Sophie asked. She went to reply and she glanced at Jason before looking back at Sophie. "I'm fine," Mack said softly as she went over to her fiancé. "I fixed Jason some coffee in attempt to be a good hostess."

Sophie took Mackenzie’s hands on hers as the girls approached. She narrowed her eyes. “You don’t need to be a good hostess to him, he shouldn’t be here in the first place.” she replied sharply. “Go home, Jason, you’re not welcome here.”
“Yeah, I don’t really care what you think,” Jason replied, crossing his arms. “You don’t just get to ghost and walk away without any warning.”
Sophie raised an eyebrow. “Really? Because I’m pretty sure I did and it’s going fine.”
“And where are you working now, Valerie?” he snapped back. “You don’t have a history of picking good jobs.”

Mackenzie heard what Sophie said and she glanced at Jason before looking at Sophie. "Hey... he didn't hurt me or Lizzie. We're okay," Mack said softly to her fiance, squeezing her hand gently. "Let him at least stay for dinner?"

Sophie heard what Mack said and shook her head. She didn’t know what he’d done to get Mackenzie to like him enough to stand up for him, but she didn’t like it. “Bluebell, he shouldn’t be around you or Lizzie. He’s not a good person and, even if he doesn’t intend to hurt you, he could accidentally lead other people here that would.” she said.
“I’m not that careless,” Jason growled. “Besides, if that’s what you’re worried about sending me away now wouldn’t do you any good. We have to talk either way.”
Sophie narrowed her eyes. “No. You feel the need to talk, like you always do. That doesn’t mean we actually have anything to talk about. Focus your paranoia on someone else, I’m fine.” she replied.
Jason shook his head. “It’s not paranoia, i have good reason to be concerned. Last time you ghosted me you ended up in a hospital.”
“I don’t see how that is your problem.” she replied.
