Mack heard what Lilian said and it seemed as if the nonchalant attitude Sophie had sometimes was inherited by her mother. She glanced between the two. ”I’m going to go to the bathroom,” Mack said kissing Sophie’s cheek softly. ”I promise I’ll come back…” She knew the last time she told Sophie she would be back, she never came back, until therapy. Mack stood up and made her way out the door to find a bathroom.

Sophie gave Mackenzie’s hand a squeeze before letting her head off to the bathroom. “It’s down the hall to the left. There aren’t any locks on the doors so don’t bother trying to figure that out.” she said.
The room lapsed into silence after Mackenzie left. At least, it did until Lilian broke it. “I took you as many things, Sophie, but suicidal wasn’t one of them,” she said. There was a cold quality in her voice and Sophie had to wonder what her mother actually thought about the situation. Was she so detached because she didn’t actually care or had she been scared when she heard? There had been a time Sophie almost believed her mother wanted to protect her from harm. “What happened to the girl that was too stubborn to give in to anything? You were so driven, even if I disagreed with your goals.”
Sophie chewed at the inside of her cheek. She didn’t know how to respond. She still wasn’t sure how she felt about her mother’s presence at all. “You should have called ahead and let me know you were coming,” she said. She wanted to glance down and study the floor, but she forced her eyes to meet her mothers. She refused to show anything that could be interpreted as weakness.
“And risk your father hearing about it? That would have been a pretty stupid thing to do.” she replied.
Sophie shook her head. “You’re that afraid of him, yet he doesn’t even care enough about you to admit you exist,” she mused, “You're still pretending to be something you’re not. But you will always be the scared young girl who gave up her child to a monster because she thought she couldn’t make it on her own.”
“Watch your tongue!” her mother snapped. “You don’t know anything about me or the life I choose to lead.”
Sophie smiled. “And you can’t do anything that would scare me.” she replied. She knew that even if her mom got angry she wouldn’t strike Sophie. She was too soft to do anything like that. “The worst thing you could have done was abandon me to dad and you did that years ago. You can stick around and try to actually be a mother if you want, but you have a lot to prove. And I don’t want you here in this prison, it’s not even grounds.”
Lilian studied Sophie for a moment before nodding. “Whatever, if you don’t want me here I’ll leave, just get them to stop calling me.” she said, then grabbed a burner phone from out of her pocket and tossed it to Sophie. “Jason said to give this to you.” she said before walking away.
Sophie tucked the burner phone under her pillow. She’d deal with Jason and the gang later. Right now she the only person she wanted to interact with was Mackenzie.

Mackenzie used the bathroom and washed her hands. She then splashed water on her face to refresh herself, to make herself more awake. Sleeping, lately, has been rough without Sophie around and she hated it. Mack dried off her face and she made her way back to Sophie’s room with ease. As she entered the room, she glanced around. ”Where’s your mom?” Mack asked entering the room and moving towards the bed.

Sophie shrugged. "She's different, that's all," she replied. "She's not a direct threat to me or anything, she's just selfish and wouldn't hesitate to throw someone else under the bus to keep herself safe."

Mack heard her. ”Well…” Mack whispered moving to straddle Sophie. ”Im selfish when it comes to you and I want you all to myself. I don’t want to share and I want you home with me and in my bed.”

Mackenzie heard what she said and she grinned back at her. "When can you come home baby? I miss you and sleep is hard without you..." Mack whispered, nudging Sophie's nose lightly with her own.

Mack noticed she didn't answer and while she didn't like that because she wanted to know, she relented and kissed her back.
A few hours later, Mack was laying on Sophie's bed, holding her. Her hand was playing lightly with Sophie's hair. "I don't want to leave..." Mack whispered.

Sophie let out a small breath and nuzzled a bit closer to Mackenzie. “I don’t want you to go either,” she muttered, “But you don’t belong here and some of the other inmate-I mean patients don’t take too kindly to new people.” Before she’d settled in she’d narrowly avoided several fights. Not that she’d been polite to the people that tried to pick on her.

Mack heard what Soph said and she pressed a few kisses to the girls forehead. "You don't belong in here either and you need to be home with me as soon as possible,"[b/] Mack whispered. Just from visiting Sophie, she could tell that the other girls didn't take kindly to new faces.

Sophie pressed her lips together. Mackenzie was wrong. She did belong here, otherwise she wouldn’t be here. “Don't worry, I’ll be out soon enough,” she said “And until then you can keep coming to visit.”
