After school Sophie had gone to the library. She was behind on studying and she’d never been able to focus at home with her bed so close. Unfortunately Mackenzie wasn’t in the class she needed to be studying for, otherwise she would have asked her to tag along.
She had read the same sentence several times already when someone tapped her on the shoulder. “I thought I’d find you here,” a British voice said. Sophie turned and saw a taller blonde girl. Her half-sister, Julia. There had always been a sort of perfect beauty to Julia that when Sophie was younger she’d longed for. Now she just saw it as an icy cover that no one would dare try to break through.
“Julia,” she said with a tight smile, “Little miss perfect came all the way to New York? What’s the occasion?”
“Do I need an occasion to visit my little siblings?” she asked, “I was actually also looking for Jesse, but he’s far less predictable than you. Do you happen to know where he is?”
Sophie frowned and regarded Julia wearily. “Are you only talking to me because you want me to help you find him?” she asked.
“No, of course not!” Julia crossed her arms over her chest. “I missed you guys and I wanted to see you both.”
Sophie looked Julia up and down before pulling out her phone. “Whatever you say,” she muttered. Julia’s in town. She wants to catch up with us apparently. Lmk if you’re alright with seeing her and I’ll bring her back to the apartment she typed out and sent to Jesse.
